Gunner Revolution

I'm proposing a Gunner Revolution! Some people in law school REALLY REALLY like to hear themselves talk in class and it gets VERY old! I've heard that some people have been dropping hints like "you're really cool outside of school, but in class you're a huge douche!" I'm not the type of person to promote ill will towards others, but I am a little glad that people have been making these comments. I'm convinced that these people raise their hands and then when they get called on they just blurt out any thought or opinion in their head at the moment without thinking about its relevance. It's gotten so bad that in some classes the professors are getting annoyed as well. I wish they separated law school classes like they did in high school... smart people, people who think they are smart but really aren't, people who try to be smart, and people who just have no hope. Well, I guess that's all I'll rant about for now.

Other news: HA! I'm in law school, of course there is no other news. I read and read and read and eat and sleep (very little). At least it's a 3 day weekend this weekend so I've been working extra hard this week to finish my work before the weekend! NO NO IT'S TRUE... I AM NOT PROCRASTINATING!!!!! Who would have ever thought! Anyway, hopefully I'll have some exciting news to write about this weekend!

Rumor Mill

Law school is SOOO much worse than high school! We have been here six weeks only and these are the rumors that are being passed....not to mention countless others such as people are getting married, someone is already rumored to be getting disbarred (funny considering you can only get DISbarred after you have already BEEN barred in a State which is impossible for a 1L), someone is allegedly "bat shit crazy" and is rumored to be institutionalized by the end of the year, someone has been arrested (although that isn't a rumor).

The rumors being spread about me:
(1) I'm sleeping with my friend Jon.
(2) I'm sleeping with my roommate Andrew.
(3) Before the end of the night on Friday, it was already being spread that I had a fight (keep in mind the fight occurred at 2 am)
(4) Natalie and I are lesbians together.
(5) Natalie and I are back to being friends.
(6) Oops, just kidding, we actually aren't back to being friends!

How ridiculous is that! I thought that I was functioning out radar range.... which I actually am, but that just proves how ridiculous is!

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF NUMBERS 3 AND 6, EVERYTHING IS FALSE!

Election Day

Today is election day and I'm not really sure how I feel about it exactly. I don't want to get too excited because then I'll be really disappointed if I lose. I have a feeling that we will be having a run-off, so I'll have to wait patiently again tomorrow. I have a lot of things on my mind though; this is just another thing to toss in there.

This past weekend I had some drama with my "closest friend" here. The quicky version of the story is that I had said I liked a guy at the beginning of the night and by the end of the night she was hardcore flirting with him. This really hurt my feelings because I have gone out of my way to be nice to this girl. So we had a minor argument on Friday night and I left her house saying I would see her on Monday. On Monday she comes into school and is acting like she is mad at me which is making my life sooo awkward which I HATE! So today, I decided to talk to her about what was going on and I basically said that I can't deal with the awkwardness and it needs to stop.

I actually feel worse after talking to her though because she basically said she doesn't remember most of Friday night, and she apologized but it didn't seem very sincere. I know that I will NEVER trust her again, and although I have forgiven her, I am still really hurt by what she did. Drinking is never an excuse to stab a friend in the back; even if you are blackout drunk (which she claims to be) you still know at the time that your actions are wrong.

My plan is to just keep her at a safe distance and be nice, but know that she can never really be my friend again. As my friend said on Saturday, I'm a very loyal friend, and I think that is why I am so upset because I could never imagine knowingly doing something like that to someone I considered my friend. I also heard that she has been talking about me behind my back, but I didn't mention that because it's better to just let things slide with her.

Other than that drama, I have had a really good week study-wise. I managed to get pretty ahead last week so that I could take a break this weekend which proved to be life-saving. I can't imagine having to study on Saturday after getting home at 4 am the night before!

I actually have to run though so I can keep my streak going!

10 September 2009

Hello All,

It's 6 am here and I've been up for an hour already doing work and research. I never would have thought that I would end up being a morning person. I get now why people leave law school ready for the "real world;" they make it impossible to succeed if you don't completely commit. I still love school, but it does make it difficult when trying to update this thing.

On top of the fact that I have no time, I also have nothing fun or exciting to talk about. I guess the only thing worth mentioning is that I am running for a position with the SBA (Student Bar Association which is basically the student government). I'm for honor board representative; this position involves investigating any honor code violations and having a hearing, if necessary, to decide the consequences. Hopefully I will get elected, but there are ten people running so we'll see. I'm also involved with the international law society, hereinafter referred to as ILS, and the business law society, hereinafter referred to as BLS. I'm not very interested in business law, but my friend's roommate is the president and he notified Natalie and I that we would be joining BLS before school started. I also forgot one other organization that I have been forced to join... La Alianza which is the Latin Law Student Society, hereinafter referred to as Alianza. I'm sure you can imagine how well I fit into that group!

The only other things I have going on are sleeping, eating (I've been cooking every night and packing my lunch everyday for school), cleaning my apartment because my roommate is a pig, and occasionally going out. This week there is an Abita pub crawl (Abita is a beer brewed in New Orleans), and next week is a Bar Review (an SBA sponsored event where they use funds from the school to buy kegs and food and they have the whole school go to a bar and eat and drink for free). Other than that I just read, read, read.

I hope the first week of school was a success for everyone back home. I'll try to be more diligent about updating.

Take care!
